FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – As part of its mission to provide education, collaboration, and networking opportunities for emerging global leaders, The Presidential Precinct is announcing its first online training program in collaboration with the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Through this pilot effort, we will provide scholarships to a special cohort of online learners to participate in the Darden Massive Online Open Learning (MOOC) certificate course, “Fundamentals of Project Planning and Management,” which is delivered through Coursera. This course is open for enrollment through March 13 to alumni of U.S. State Department or Global Ties U.S.-sponsored exchange programs who are also members of the Presidential Precinct Network.
“Fundamentals of Project Planning and Management” is an introductory course on the key concepts of planning and executing projects. Learners will identify factors that lead to project success, and learn how to plan, analyze, and manage projects. They will be exposed to state-of-the-art methodologies and introduced to the challenges involved in various types of projects.
In addition to the online courses, the four-week course typically requires one to two hours per week of study.
“We are enthusiastic about this pilot effort with the Darden School of Business to provide ongoing online training and support for the next generation of global leaders,” said Neal Piper, Executive Director of the Presidential Precinct. “This initiative enables us to advance our mission of providing both a physical and virtual destination for critical thinking about the world’s most pressing challenges. We look forward to offering additional online courses curated by the other partner institutions in our consortium. Offering online training for program alumni enables these young leaders to continue to engage with top faculty and experts from these world class institutions, as well as to enrich course discussions with global perspectives.”
