As an experienced international travel and crisis management executive, Mr. McHugh was appointed Chief Executive of MyTravel Group, plc in October 2002, taking the helm at a critical time when survival of the business was in doubt and confidence in management had been eroded. Over the course of his tenure, Mr. McHugh developed a strategic plan to return the business to financial health over three years, created a disciplined, results-oriented culture, and led the restructuring of the company. His leadership returned the Group to profitability, identified the need to consolidate the UK tour industry and achieved the agreement to merge with Thomas Cook, thereby creating the third largest leisure travel group in Europe. Prior to MyTravel, Mr. McHugh was President and COO of Holland America, Westours, which was the top-rated premium cruise line during his tenure. Mr. McHugh was an executive in the airline industry for over twenty years, joining Pan Am airways in 1988 as a part of the senior management team, eventually serving as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. McHugh has a Bachelor of Science from LaSalle College and an MBA from Drexel University, He was in the US Army, serving as 1st Lieutenant, Infantry in Vietnam in 1970.
