Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2022
Nozipho Zypo Moyo is a development practitioner with more than 15 years’ work experience in human and digital rights, policy development, project management, monitoring and evaluation, and media. Zypo is the Co-founder of Zimbabwe Sex Workers Alliance, which focuses on advocating for sex workers’ rights, and she also serves as the Executive Director for Africa Kiburi, an organization pivoted on aspiration number six of the African Union, which speaks to ‘an Africa whose development is people-driven, relying on the potential of African people, especially its women and youth, and caring for children.’ Zypo holds a bachelor’s degree in Policy Studies from the University of South Africa. Zypo’s major focus is to empower marginalized and minority groups to exercise their civil and political rights to influence the decisions of people in power. Zypo is angered by social injustices and is committed to development work. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Zypo plans to expand Africa Kiburi’s footprint in Sub-Saharan Africa to empower more women and young people to continue the fight against injustices and to build impartial societies in Africa.
