Winny Obure is a young feminist and Women’s Rights Defender from Kenya. She has over 8 years of experience in community development advocating for Gender Equality and Social Economic Empowerment of Women and Girls. Winny is Founder and current Director at Teenseed Africa, a community organization focusing on nurturing adolescents into leadership through mentorship and training on how to effectively advocate for their reproductive health and rights. She also fundraises, designs, and monitors advocacy campaigns for the organization. Winny has worked and volunteered with advocacy organizations at the local, national, regional, and international spaces on SRHR and SGBV including at the 50th session Commission on Population and Development. Winny is driven by her commitment to Justice, Equality and Fairness in the world irrespective of gender. One day she hopes to witness a world free from injustices and inequalities against women and girls. In 2016, she received the Integrity Champions Award from the National Integrity Alliance and recognition in her Komarocks Location Community as an Advocate of Children’s Rights. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Winny plans to continue her work on Women and Girls Rights with a focus on Sexual Gender Based Violence and Reproductive Health Rights.
