Wanjiru Muthami is a Co-founder of Kakuma Bee Social Enterprise, a transformative organization dedicated to empowering women in the Kakuma refugee camp and the Turkana community. With a deep commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment, Wanjiru has spearheaded initiatives that provide vocational training in beekeeping, traditional crafts, and tailoring.

Wanjiru’s journey began with a passion for social justice and a desire to address the economic hardships faced by refugees and host communities. Under her leadership, Kakuma Bee has trained over 100 women, enabling them to achieve financial independence and improve their quality of life.

An artist at heart, Wanjiru brings a unique perspective to the enterprise. Her love for art, craft, and fashion drives a creative direction of Kakuma Bee’s products, making them appealing to a global audience. Beyond the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she is dedicated to building a brand that not only provides high-quality products but also tells a powerful story of resilience, culture, and sustainability.
