Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2016
“If you open the doors of education … then you’re going to find yourself having a country that has a medley of ideas instead of a medley of guns.”
Sibusiso Nhlabatsi has eight years of experience in human-rights work. Currently, Sibusiso is an attorney in private practice, TR Maseko Attorneys, a leading human rights and constitutional litigation practice in Mbabane. Sibusiso is a champion of good governance and democracy, and a strong advocate of the rule of law. He is an LLM candidate at the University of South Africa and holds an LLB degree, a diploma from the University of Swaziland, as well as a plethora of short-course certificates. With the aid of the USA Embassy, Sibusiso implemented three rule of law conferences between the years 2013 and 2014. After successful completion of the Fellowship, Sibusiso intends to continue working in Swaziland. He aims to plough back into the society that contributed to his achievements by playing a meaningful role in strengthening Swaziland’s civil society, which is weak and fragmented.
