Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2016
“We should focus on the younger generation, because we have to work at the base to change the future of our countries.”
Sandrine Julien was born and raised in Mauritius. She holds a Bsc (Hons) degree in Management from the University of Mauritius. She has been a marketing and communications executive in a museum for six years, an educator for six years, and has been active in social work for four years. At a college in Port Louis, Mauritius, she works with underprivileged teens with learning difficulties who come from deprived areas. She also volunteers in several NGOs that work for marginalized and vulnerable communities. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Sandrine plans to bring innovative ideas to improve the welfare of the groups she works for. She strongly believes that education improves people’s lives, and makes communities and the world better places to live.
