Muazu Alhaji Modu has over three years of professional experience in rural community development, focusing on promoting transparency, accountability, and environmental sustainability. Muazu is a currently the chapter lead fellow at Connected Development, where they improve access to information and empower local communities in Africa. Muazu is the co-founder and executive director of Youth For Sahel Transition (YFST) and ONE champion. He is also the state lead monitor for Enyenaweh Research and Technology. Muazu holds a post-graduate diploma, higher national diploma, and national diploma in Computer Science from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi and the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu. Muazu is passionate about promoting transparency and accountability. He is motivated to empower marginalized communities with information and strengthen local communities by creating platforms for dialogue, enabling informed debate, and building community capacity. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Muazu plans to coordinate a massive advocacy campaign and community engagement activities in northeast Nigeria. These activities will provide financial information, empowering communities to interpret budget data and hold their government accountable. He also plans to create YFST chapters in the 36 states of Nigeria and all Sahel region countries.
