“Do not wait for tomorrow to do what you are supposed to do today.”

Majo Joseph has been an English teacher since 2004 and works as a volunteer in the Parliament of Mozambique for the province of Manica. As a human rights activist and Programs Officer in the Youth Parliament of Mozambique, his main responsibility is to promote active, constructive and massive participation by youth (including women and disadvantaged persons) in decision making and economic, social, and political empowerment for the development of Mozambique. Majo believes that sustainable development can only be achieved if each and every citizen has positive, critical, active, and constructive participation. Majo is in his fourth year of study for a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language Teaching at Universidade Pedagogica de Moçambique through distance education. After completing the Washington Fellowship, Majo plans to contribute to the strengthening of civil society by organizing training events in the eleven districts of the province of Manica, with the objective of promoting the empowerment of youth, women and disadvantaged persons along with existing civil society organizations.
