Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2024

Jocita Clarke Korkoyah has over eight years of experience in civic participation, elections, and democracy. Jocita works as a program officer with the Elections Coordinating Committee, where she specializes in election monitoring, electoral reform, and advocacy. Her work has provided her with experience observing and reporting on election processes, as well as engaging political parties and legislative committees to lobby for electoral reform. Jocita has a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication and sociology. She is motivated by equipping and empowering citizens to make educated decisions about issues that affect their lives, and she is dedicated to improving the civic and democratic space for youth, women, and girls to engage in democratic processes. Jocita feels that when people are educated or informed about issues, they are able to make better decisions, which have a greater impact on society. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, she plans on implementing the knowledge gained towards her institution’s goals and better empowering children within her community in Liberia.
