Hussein Melele has more than 10 years’ experience promoting youth participation in development agendas, focusing on putting young people at the center of development and decision-making processes. Hussein is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mulika Tanzania, Founder and First President of the Tanzania chapter of the African Youth and Adolescents’ Network on Population and Development, and Vice President of the African Youth and Adolescents’ Network on Population and Development of Eastern and Southern Africa, which serves more than 15 countries in the region and focuses on promoting and advocating for sexual and reproductive health and rights for adolescents and young people. Hussein holds a postgraduate diploma in Economic Diplomacy from the Centre for Foreign Relations, Tanzania, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from St. Augustine University of Tanzania. Hussein is committed to seeing youth become active partners in development agendas, not just beneficiaries. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Hussein will return to Tanzania, where he intends to improve organizational projects by using the skills, knowledge, and networks he gained during the Fellowship.
