Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2021
Elisante Gideon Kitulo has more than eight years of experience in media communications and advocacy, specifically focusing on designing and delivering evidence-based communication campaigns for social change. Currently, Elisante is a media engagement and advocacy manager at HakiElimu, a local organization that advocates for equitable access to high-quality basic education in Tanzania. Previously, he served as a policy analysis and advocacy volunteer at HakiElimu and as human rights correspondent with the Tanzanian newspaper Majira. Elisante holds a degree in Law and a postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice. He is passionate about children’s rights, and he enjoys working with the media to promote them. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, he plans to continue leading his team to produce communication materials and deliver nationwide campaigns to influence policy change and practices regarding children’s rights. He also hopes to build the advocacy and communications capacity of partner community-based organizations.
