Edmar Nhaga was born in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau. He is a 2010 graduate in Law from the Faculty of Law of Bissau. Following his studies Edmar became an activist with the Guinean Human Rights League. From 2011 to 2013 he was the coordinator of human rights at the Center of Access to Justice of Canchungo, covering the entire north region of Cacheu. He has worked mainly in the field of human rights through community awareness and monitoring of human rights situations with particular focus on the situation of women and children. Currently, Edmar is the President of the autonomous sector of Bissau for the Guinean League of Human Rights.
