Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2021

Ebere Noela Odika has seven years of experience in the development field and is passionate about finding solutions to the challenges affecting women and girls. Ebere is currently the founder and executive director of IBREATHE (Initiative for Building a Resourceful and Ethical Africa). An advocate for gender equality, she works at the grassroots level to establish Voices against Violence Clubs in schools to train youth to become peer educators and champions against violence and abuse. Through IBREATHE, she has embarked on a pilot project to provide out-of-school girls in rural communities access to education. IBREATHE collaborates with information and communication technology (ICT) training centers in four Nigerian states to equip girls with ICT skills, to foster their continuous learning, and to prepare them for the post-COVID-19 workforce. Ebere holds a Master of Science in Applied Biochemistry and certificates in Project Management, Social Impact, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Girl-Centered Design. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, she plans to expand her work to include engaging policymakers and helping to draft effective policies that address the needs of women and girls.
