Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2021

Duha Ali has more than five years of experience in promoting human rights, particularly women’s rights, through youth mobilization and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Duha is a women and development officer at the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, a humanitarian organization. Through her work, she has founded the Sudanese Women’s March Campaign and the Girl Child Campaign, both youth-led initiatives that target women and girls in underserved communities and try to end various forms of discrimination and eradicate the stigma of SRHR. As a medical professional, a Women Deliver Young Leader, and a soft skills trainer, Duha trains and mobilizes youth in the medical field to be catalysts for positive social change, cultural reform, and women’s empowerment. Duha holds a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and a bachelor’s degree in Surgery from the University of Khartoum. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, she aspires to further develop her initiatives, become more effective and culturally sensitive by globalizing her outlook on SRHR approaches, and hone her locally-oriented model in promoting SRHR in Sudan.
