Helena Refosco is a Judge at the São Paulo State Court of Justice. She has served as Auxiliary Judge at Brazil’s highest courts, including the Federal Supreme Court, Superior Electoral Court, and National Council of Justice. Her expertise spans class actions, access to justice, and judicial reform. Helena holds a Ph.D. from USP Law School, during which she was a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School. She recently completed the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship at American University Washington College of Law and the Federal Judicial Center Fellowship Program. She has taught at the University of Brasília and co-authored publications in prestigious journals including The Cambridge Handbook of Class Actions. Helena has presented her research internationally at Harvard Law School, the World Bank, and other global forums. Her dissertation on Brazilian class actions was selected by Brazil’s Federal Supreme Court among 100 significant works by women Constitutional Law experts, and she was recognized among “Women Who Mark 150 Years of TJSP History.”
