Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2024
Honoré Balemo has four years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector working with both international and local NGOs in the Central African Republic. Currently, Honoré is a program manager at the Organisation des Femmes d’Actions Humanitaires et de Relèvement Durable, a local organization working in the sectors of education, child protection, food security, and water, sanitation, and hygiene. Apart from his professional duties, Honoré is a volunteer in the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) East Africa Alumni Chapter of the Central African Republic. Through this chapter, Honoré has recently strengthened the capacity of over 10 YALI Alumni on the theme of conflict resolution, peacebuilding and advocacy to cascade training modules across two provinces in the Central African Republic. He also conducted training on the same theme for 50 young leaders in Bangui with the aim of reducing community conflicts around the country. Honoré holds a bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Management Science. A self-learner in the domain of project management, Honoré is committed to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals through humanitarian interventions across his country by reaching millions of vulnerable people who are in humanitarian need. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Honoré plans to create a local NGO called Humanitarian Actions for Sustainable Development.
