Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2024
Chizero is a development practitioner with over seven years of diverse experience in both humanitarian and development contexts with a background in coordination, program implementation, project management, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and resource mobilization across various thematic areas including child protection, youth empowerment, and economic development. With a background in project planning and management in community development, Chizero has worked with several organizations including Plan International and United Nations Resident Coordinators (UN RCO). Currently, Chizero works with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) as a protection team leader (Child Protection) where he leads a team of approximately 115 staff and volunteers responding to child protection interventions on case management, psychosocial support services, community-based child protection mechanisms, and birth registration for Burundian refugees in a camp setting. He is also a leader of the Tanzania Child & Youth Rescue Organization, an NGO co-founded to empower young people and vulnerable children for a better future. Following the completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Chizero plans to leverage his expertise and leadership to continue driving impactful change within the humanitarian and development sectors.
