Mandela Washington Fellowship - Summer 2022
Motlatsi Jonas Mofolo has more than four years of experience in gender and human rights programming and women’s empowerment. He has educated community leaders and law enforcement agencies on gender-based violence response and handling of survivors. Currently, he is a monitoring and evaluation consultant at Nairasha Legal Support, a non-profit company that offers free legal services to victims of gender-based violence. Motlatsi is dedicated to linking gender-based violence survivors to various care services and to tracking cases to ensure time-sensitive interventions. He envisions a world free of gender-based violence, where vulnerable populations are fully empowered to benefit from social, cultural, economic, and political opportunities. Motlatsi is pursuing a Master of Laws in Human Rights Law at the National University of Lesotho. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Motlatsi plans to focus on lobbying and advocacy initiatives for gender-inclusive economic laws and policies to level the playing field for women and other marginalized groups, especially in sectors such as extractive industries.
