“Despite all the negative things that are happening back home, we can make Africa a better continent.”

Isaac Mwanza currently serves as the Democracy and Governance Specialist at the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in Zambia. Isaac has ten years of experience in developing basic leadership training programs, conducting research for youth and women’s democratic engagement, strengthening dialogues between citizens and parliamentarians, and facilitating the training of youth election monitors in Zambia and other African countries. Isaac recently authored a U.S. Department of State-ECA funded youth training module titled “Understanding Governance and Corruption” under the alumni mentorship grant project of YALI. Isaac Mwanza has contributed to the work of international organizations such as the National Democratic Institute and Transparency International in Zambia and globally by contributing towards research and program implementation. Isaac holds a degree in Business Administration and is currently pursuing legal studies with the University of Zambia. He has several professional certificates from the World Bank Institute on leadership development, governance, and anti-corruption. Upon completion of the Washington Fellowship, Isaac plans to continue working with YALI to create a School of Leadership Studies in Lusaka that will focus on training youth (young women and young men) from political parties in Zambia and the region who aspire to take up leadership positions in societies where politics have been dominated by older, more affluent citizens.
