Halima Miradji

Halima Miradji has two years of experience teaching English in different schools, both governmental and non- governmental (private, public and independent English centers). This has enabled her to identify and analyze the challenges of education in her community. She is also the founder and director of Mbae Trambwe English Center (MTEC), a center that focuses on teaching English to young people and older adults. The school involves and benefits the citizens of her village by connecting them to the opportunities available with language acquisition. Miradji is a journalist at the radio and television station for the island, where she presents the news in French and the native language (Shingazidja). She is also a member and teacher in an association which focuses on the development of education in the island, called ‘YES WE CAN’. This association works in collaboration with village associations to teach the English language in hopes of developing a tourism industry in Comoros. Ms Halima holds a diploma in Applied Foreign Languages from the University of Comoros. She has completed a workshop on English language teaching strategies at the University of Comoros. In addition, she has completed an English Teachers Training Course taught by Groupe de Service Volontaire, an NGO working on the island. Miradji also successfully completed the Front Desk Representative Training Program through the Retaj Hotel in Moroni, where she was able to further develop her English proficiency and hospitality skills.
