Meg Freshwater has ten years of government experience working on Capitol Hill and in the White House.

Prior to joining the Precinct, Meg served for five years in the Obama Administration, initially as the Director of Correspondence in the office of First Lady Michelle Obama and then in the National Security Council (NSC) as Deputy Director of Visits, Planning, and Diplomatic Affairs and Advisor to the NSC Chief of Staff. As the Director of Correspondence, Meg wrote and edited all letters and messages signed by First Lady Michelle Obama.  In the NSC, Meg served as the principal strategic advisor to the NSC Chief of Staff and helped manage several hundred members of the NSC staff. As the Deputy Director for Visits, Planning, and Diplomatic Affairs, Meg planned and executed over 50 meetings and events President Obama held with foreign Heads of State and Government.  

Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Meg worked on the legislative staff in the office of Senator Kay R. Hagan (D- NC) where she focused on budget, defense, foreign affairs, trade, and veterans’ affairs issues.  She holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and a M.A. in Global Security Studies from Johns Hopkins University.
