Tinashe Mutsonziwa has 8 years’ experience working on reproductive health, gender, and governance. She is currently working as a gender consultant with the African Union Commission under the women’s economic empowerment and political participation project, which is responsible for supporting the formulation of policies that enhance the political participation of women. She has worked as an advocate for the sexual and reproductive health rights of young people in Zimbabwe. Between 2011 and 2014, Tinashe was the first young woman to serve on the National Aids Council of Zimbabwe board, where she represented young people. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Tinashe plans to partner with organisations that empower and encourage women, including young women, to stand for election into public office, ensuring equitable gender representation in Zimbabwe’s governance structures. Tinashe graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Sociology and Gender Development Studies from the Women’s University in Africa, Zimbabwe.
